Poster for clips

Hi -- I think it would be nice if we could set the poster for each individual clip in addition to just the event. I think the posters (for both clips and events) should be settable to a particular filmstrip frame.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Email contact difficulties

Hi idoc. We've sent a number of replies to a number of emails from your llei.net address but have mostly received mail delivery failure messages (for some reason the first one got through). Do you have another address we can contact you on? Perhaps send an email to voltaicpc@shedworx.com from a different address, or just reply to this post with an address we can contact you on.

moved to support

thanks for the bug report. We've put it into the support queue.

Voltaic Feature enhancements

Excellent products. Just bought the full bundle of Shedworx software. Couple of ideas for feature enhancements:

1 Speed! It needs to be much quicker, even though it is an excellent product. I've a dual xeon machine and it was slow. Is the software multi-processor/multicore aware?
2 The ability to just drag an sdhc card from the desktop or wherever (i.e. a copy of the sdhc card with folder structure intact)

We're continually working on

We're continually working on speed improvements for VoltaicHD, so we hope to make some advances in this area.

We are now looking at drag and drop support from SDHC cards for the next major release.

VoltaicHD only takes advantage of two cores at the moment.

Here goes, first post on

Here goes, first post on here. I've posted this over at DVXUSER in the Voltaic HD thread, along with some problems I've encountered with 720p 50 .mts files on the Mac.
This request is probably more for advanced users, but might be of interest to others too.

"I'd like to make a couple of suggestions too, that I think would make this, combined with Flamingo HD, very useable ( at least for Mac users ).
In Voltaic at the moment, there is no way of changing the export settings of each clip, without going into preferences, which is a global action. If export settings could be changed on a per clip or per batch basis, then it might speed up workflow. For example, say I have a batch of clips to encode with a mixture of 1080 25, 720 50 and 720 50 that I wanted as slow mo. Currently I would have to import only the clips at this stage that I wanted for each export setting, finish this session and then reset preferences to start the next batch. Obviously the same would be true for US/Japanese frame rates.

Also, looking at the details on Flamingo HD, I can't see a method for tagging clips with take notes, reel, keywords etc., which could then form part of a searchable library. This feature, coupled with Voltaic using export settings, could make the duo a really good alternative to FCP/FCE log and transfer, with a much more versatile library management system for camera originals. "

Thanks for the input! Our

Thanks for the input! Our first request via our new forums :)

We'll have a look at being able to set conversion preferences on a per-clip basis under VoltaicHD 2.0.

With FlamingoHD, we have a Search and Tagging function designed and about to enter development. Searching and Tagging will be fairly standard compared to other Mac apps, so we will ask for your input to this as be begin development.

We are very interested in making the Flamingo/Voltaic pair useful to advanced users as we believe that it also helps with general usability for standard users also.

support for elgato h.264 turbo.hd

I just moved to final cut pro from final cut express and I am experiencing with voltaic to convert avchd clips into prores lt. it is slow on my macbook pro core2 2.5ghz with 4gb ram. I have experience using elgato's h.264 turbo. hd which can really speed up transcoding significantly but, unfortunately, not into prores. elgato's manual says its hardware can speed up anything that make use of quicktime to convert. does the conversion to prores lt by voltaic make use of quicktime? if yes, will support for elgato be implemented in the next release? right now, my only way to work is to batch convert overnight.

ElgatoHD hardware support

We do use Quicktime to convert into our final destination format, including ProRes.

The Quicktime stage is only a small part of the conversion, so I'm doubtful as to whether we would be able to use the ElgatoHD device to speed things up overall.

We will have a look into this though.

thanks for your response

by the way, when i woke up this morning the 50 something clipped in batch were all processed except for one particular clip of about 22 secs. they were all transferred from my canon hf11 internal memory in one batch. i tried to run several times with that clip alone but still got a failed error. do you want to look into it? if yes, how can i help?

Failed clip

We are very interested in any clips that fail the conversion process. Please send the clip in to us (using rapidshare or something like that) by emailing our support line voltaicmac@shedworx.com
